The high point of this month of November was our community retreat preached from the 7th to the 15th by dom André-Jean Demaugé, abbot emeritus of Saint-Benoît d'En-Calcat (near Toulouse). The goal of these retreats is to reignite our fervor to follow Christ. It ended, as it does every year, by the renewal of our vows.
Work continues in the monastery, specifically, in the area surrounding the cemetery. It has been entirely rearranged and now offers a more welcoming view and place of meditation. This was particularly appreciated during the month which serves to commemorate more vividly our departed brothers.
On the 23rd, Father Abbot presided the patronal feast of our sisters, the nuns of Saint-Cécile. This coincided with the end of their own conventual retreat.
Finally, with much thanksgiving for the liturgical year that has closed, the community entered the season of Advent on the 28th, to prepare the coming of our Lord on Christmas. The monks of Solesmes join the Pope and the entire Church in deep communion as the Jubilee Year of Mercy begins.
