

Above the entombment, four busts emerge.
Local tradition has it that they are: St. Bernard, St. Anselm, St. Augustin, and St. Bonaventure. The texts they display seem to indicate that in the first two cases at least, this identification is correct.
On either side, St. Timothy and St. Denis comment on the death of the Virgin. St. John the Damascene relates that they were eye-witnesses.
